Can we help Titus?

Dear Prayer Partner,

When I was in Indonesia, I spent some time with a man named Titus.

He’s one of our local leaders there, and I really came to love this guy.

Titus lives on Sawu Island and travels throughout the surrounding islands to encourage churches, train disciple-makers, and help local believers share Jesus with people who still haven’t heard the Good News. 

He’s a rugged, deeply humble man.

He listens, prays with people, and genuinely cares about them. And when he hears about people on another island who haven’t heard about Jesus, he goes.

The problem is that some of those places are really hard to get to.

A trip to the next island can mean up to 17 hours on a boat. Titus is willing to do it, but that’s a lot of time spent travelling when he could be sitting with local churches, training leaders, and helping them reach their own people.

So we asked our team in Indonesia what it would cost to help Titus and his team take small local flights when they’re available.

They told us it’d be about $15,000 for a year.

I remember hearing that and thinking, we can do this.

A short flight can replace hours on a boat. It gets Titus there sooner, gives him more time with the people he’s serving, and makes some of these journeys a whole lot safer.

You and I will never reach these islands ourselves. We don’t speak the languages, know the culture, or have the relationships Titus has. That’s why Global Disciples equips local believers who already live near least-reached communities. Titus can reach people outsiders like us simply can’t.
