Pray for Southern Africa

Dear Prayer Partner,

As we kick off the new year, our prayer requests are focused on the Southern Africa region, home to about 90 million people. This area includes Zambia, Republic of South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana, and Eswatini. There are 12 least-reached groups totaling over a million people. Though it is a smaller number compared to other regions, it is still an important number and the focus of our regional team. 

On the ground, Malama leads the staff, Lulu serves as our Regional Prayer Leader, and Deborah is our Data Manager/Admin Assistant. With seven Facilitators, they serve 115 groups of churches and 156 training programs. Last year, 1,300 trained disciple-makers planted 140 new churches, with 4,343 new worshippers and disciples of Jesus. In addition, 48 new businesses have started to assist in supporting disciple-makers. Praise God!

There is an African hymn that says, “You are faithful, O God. You are faithful, O God. Every day and every hour, You are faithful, O God.” I’m encouraged by those simple words, especially in seasons when my circumstances are difficult. As you read this, know that our team is praying these words over you. I am convinced that He will show himself faithful in your life as He is continuing to do in Southern Africa.

Tuck Shop Missionaries
Kuzo is the son of a pastor in Zimbabwe, and he participated in a local small business training in 2023. He was highly motivated, convinced by the Spirit to reach out to lost people using the business approach. He chose to focus on the people in a specific language group, opening a small “tuck shop” in their setting. He has witnessed to every person who comes in, sharing the Word of God and introducing them to Jesus.
The program director reports, “As our Lord is faithful, results are inevitable! This zealous young man ministered to 137 souls by the end of July 2023. So far, 27 people have given their lives to Jesus and all were baptized, and a new church has been planted. Currently, Kuzo and a team of five new believers (from the 27) are flooding the surrounding villages with the Gospel of Jesus!”
