Dear Friend,

What’s in your hand?

I’m not talking about the phone you’re holding or the mouse as you scroll through this email. What’s in your hand?

What has God given you that you have in your hands? Your time, your career, your family, your home, your giftings, your finances, your story…What’s in your hand?

Jesus’ instruction is to pick up our cross and follow him, and yet, if we are honest, we are often reluctant because the illusion of control and running our own lives seems less risky than a life of trusting God.

Moses was just like that. God interrupts his comfortable life. Our friend, Mo, should be thinking about retirement at the ripe age of 80, and then God shows up and turns his life right side up.

God puts an audacious ask on him and Moses answers, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it." [Ex. 4:1-3]

So my question remains…What’s in YOUR hand?

What are you willing to lay down for the sake of our King?

Before we discover what God has for us, we need to be willing to lay down our stuff. Our income, our status, our control, our perfection, our 10-year plan, our finances, our self-pursuits.

Throughout history, God has used ordinary people whom the world marginalized and overlooked to take on great Kingdom adventures. Ordinary people like you and me.

There are just 3 days until our Global Disciples year-end, and still about $80,000 to raise to fund the near-culture evangelism training we’ve committed to.

Global Disciples trains and equips pastors who preach the Good News of Jesus to the least-reached regions of the world. They are going into extremely remote communities as ambassadors for Christ. And lives are being transformed by the Holy Spirit.
